Privacy policy
Last updated:
This privacy policy explains what personal information bet2odds.com handles, why we handle it, how long we keep it and what choices you have. bet2odds is a football predictions and tips website. We are not a bookmaker: we do not take bets and we do not hold money for visitors. You can read every free page without telling us who you are, so the information we handle is limited, and this page describes it as it really is.
If anything here is unclear, write to [email protected] and a person will reply.
Who we are
In this policy, "bet2odds", "we", "us" and "our" mean the operator of bet2odds.com. Under the NDPA 2023 and the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), we are the data controller for the personal information described here: we decide why and how it is processed and we are responsible for looking after it.
Our readers are in West Africa, the United Kingdom and elsewhere. We follow the NDPA 2023, and the UK GDPR for visitors in the UK. Privacy questions go to [email protected]; general questions to [email protected].
Information we collect
Technical and server information
When your browser requests a page it sends technical details, as it does with any website: your IP address, browser and device type (the user agent), the page requested, the referring page and the time. These pass through our hosting provider and through Cloudflare, which sits in front of the site to deliver pages quickly and block attacks. Our own server logs are deleted automatically after 7 days.
Analytics
We use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics tool that loads by default. It is cookieless, does not follow you across other websites and only shows us totals, such as page views, popular pages, broad device types and countries. We cannot use it to identify you.
Google Analytics 4 gives us more detail about how pages are used. It loads only if you accept analytics cookies in our consent banner, and never before. If you reject or ignore the banner, it does not run. Advertising cookies work the same way: only with your consent.
Cookies and browser storage
Our server sets no cookies. Our own scripts set two small first-party cookies: one remembers your cookie choice and one remembers that you closed the 18+ notice. Cloudflare may set strictly necessary security cookies. A display preference (local time or West Africa Time) is kept in your browser's local storage, and your country is kept in session storage for the current tab so we can show the right helplines and only show bookmakers licensed where you are. Storage values stay on your device. Our cookie policy lists each item.
Telegram and WhatsApp alerts
Tip alerts on Telegram or WhatsApp are opt-in. If you join a channel or subscribe to alerts, the platform processes your phone number or username under its own privacy policy. We see only what the platform shows to channel admins, usually a member count and sometimes a display name or username. We do not export member lists, and you can leave at any time with the platform's own controls.
Contact form and email
If you use our contact form, we store your name, email address, chosen topic, message and country. If you email us, we receive your address and whatever you write. We use this only to answer you and keep a record of the conversation. Please do not send sensitive details we do not need.
Bookmaker links
Links to bookmakers pass through a short redirect on our site. We log only the partner, your country and the page you clicked from. We do not log your IP address or any identifier for you.
Information we do not collect
bet2odds has no user accounts, logins or paid memberships, and it takes no payments, so we hold no passwords, card numbers or bank details. We never ask for your bookmaker login, your betting history or your account balance, and we do not receive them from bookmakers. We do not use your precise location: the country Cloudflare detects from your connection is used in your browser only to show the right helplines and to hide bookmakers that are not licensed where you are, and it is not stored with your identity. We do not buy personal data from other companies, and we do not build advertising profiles of our readers. If we ever add a feature that needs more information, such as accounts, we will update this policy before it goes live and explain exactly what is collected and why.
How we use information
- to deliver pages and keep the site running reliably;
- to send transactional email, such as receipts, password resets and renewal notices;
- to send the tip alerts you asked for;
- to protect the site against attacks, abuse, scraping and fraud;
- to measure which pages are read, in aggregate, so we can improve content and fix errors;
- to show advertising and measure affiliate referrals, using cookies only when you consent;
- to reply to messages and complaints;
- to meet legal obligations, such as keeping the records the law requires and answering lawful requests.
We do not send marketing email from our systems, and we do not sell personal data.
Our lawful bases
Section 25 of the NDPA and Article 6 of the UK GDPR require a lawful basis for each use of personal information. We rely on:
- Consent for Google Analytics 4, advertising cookies and Telegram or WhatsApp alerts. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests for server logs, security, fraud prevention, cookieless analytics, anonymous bookmaker link counts and answering messages. These uses have a small effect on your privacy, and you can object to them.
- Legal obligation for records the law requires us to keep and for responding to authorities.
How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as we need it:
| Information | How long |
|---|---|
| Server logs | 7 days, then deleted automatically |
| Contact form messages | 12 months, then deleted |
| Emails to us | Up to 24 months after our last contact |
| Telegram or WhatsApp alerts | Until you leave or unsubscribe |
| Cookie consent record | 12 months, in your browser |
| Umami analytics | Aggregated only, with no personal identifier |
| Google Analytics 4 (with consent) | 14 months, Google's shortest setting |
| Bookmaker link logs | No personal data is recorded |
We do not keep backups or data exports on the web server.
Who we share information with
We use a small number of service providers, called processors. They may use information only on our instructions and for the service they provide:
- Namecheap, our hosting provider, which runs the server that stores the site, contact messages and logs.
- Cloudflare, for content delivery and security, which sees the technical details of each request.
- Our email provider, which sends transactional email only.
- Umami, for cookieless analytics, and Google, for Analytics 4 and advertising, only if you consent.
- An AI provider, which can help draft match previews from football statistics in our database. Only match facts are sent to it; no personal data about visitors ever is.
We may also share information where the law requires it, to protect our rights or others' safety, or if the business is sold or reorganised, in which case the new owner must respect this policy. We never sell or rent personal data to advertisers or bookmakers. When you follow a link to a bookmaker or another website, that site handles your information under its own privacy policy.
International transfers
Some providers, including Cloudflare, Google and our host, process information in several countries, so your information may leave the country you are in. Under Part VIII of the NDPA we transfer only to countries with adequate protection or under appropriate safeguards such as binding contract terms. Under Chapter V of the UK GDPR we rely on adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses, including the UK International Data Transfer Addendum where it applies. You can ask us for details of these safeguards.
Your rights
Under the NDPA and the UK GDPR you have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you and get a copy;
- rectification of inaccurate or incomplete information;
- erasure where there is no good reason for us to keep it;
- portability, receiving information you gave us in a common, machine-readable format;
- object to processing based on our legitimate interests;
- restriction of processing while a concern is looked at;
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting what was done before. For cookies, use the cookie settings link in the footer or on our cookie policy.
To use a right, email [email protected]. It is free. We reply within one month and tell you if a complex request needs longer, as the law allows. We may ask you to confirm your identity first, so we never hand information to the wrong person.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority:
- under the NDPA 2023, the data protection commission (NDPC), at ndpc.gov.ng;
- in the United Kingdom, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk.
Elsewhere, you may be able to contact the data protection authority in your own country.
Children
bet2odds is for adults aged 18 and over only. Our content is about betting markets and is not suitable for anyone younger. Nobody under 18 may join our alerts or send us personal information. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If we learn that we hold information about someone under 18, we close any account and delete the information promptly. If you think a child has given us information, please tell us.
How we protect information
- every page is served over HTTPS, with HTTP Strict Transport Security so browsers always use an encrypted connection;
- passwords are stored only as strong one-way hashes;
- access to servers, logs and admin tools is limited to the people who need it, with individual credentials;
- server logs are deleted after 7 days, which limits what could ever be exposed.
No system connected to the internet is perfectly secure, but we work to keep risks low. If a breach affects your information, we will act quickly and inform you and the regulator where the law requires.
Automated decision-making
Our predictions come from a statistical model about football matches, not about people. We do not make automated decisions about you, and we do not use profiling that has legal or similarly significant effects on you.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when our services or the law change. The "Last updated" date at the top shows the latest revision. If a change is significant, we will say so clearly on the site.
